Throughout my lifetime, internet platforms have disrupted every area of the human experience. They are rewiring our brains, redefining our relationships, restructuring our communities and revolutionizing our systems. Living during this transition has had a huge impact on how I perceive the world.
I typically explore an idea or emotion through a variety of mediums in order to make sense of it. I especially seek the immediacy of painting during the exhausitvie periods of waiting throughout the filmmaking process. When I finish a painting, I often store it and wait several years before revisiting it or giving it a name, so that I can relive that experience through a larger context.
During the course of the pandemic, which was a personal period of deep self reflection, I started to fully realize how much of an influence technological change was having on my life and on our entire species.
This collection represents select pieces throughout the last decade that were influenced by the rapid digitization of the human experience, whether subconsciously or not. This exploration of the relationship between technology and culture is also the current focus of my work in film.
All proceeds from this exclusive exhibit will be directly invested into the mission of CultureNet, of which I am a co-founder.
